BR - Bankroll
BACK DOOR - Cover bet in waning

BAD BEAT - Tough betting loss
BEEF - Dispute over a wager
CHALK - Favorite
CIRCLED GAME - Betting limits
reduced due to weather, injuries, etc.
COVER - Win your bet with the
spread
DIME - $1,000
DOLLAR - $100
EARN - Percentage hold
EXOTIC BET - Any bet other
than a straight bet
EXPOSURE - Amount of money
the sports book stands to lose on a game.
FIGURE - Amount owed by or
to a bookmaker.
FORM - Tabloid used for horse
racing
GET DOWN - Wager on a game
HANDICAPPER - One who studies
sports and predicts the results
HANDLE - Total amount of bets
taken
HEDGE - Bet the opposite of
your wager to reduce your action
HOOK - Equivalent of half point
in the betting spread
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE - Playing
at home
JUICE - Refers to the 11 to
10 bettors lay on straight wagers; aka vig
LAY A PRICE - Bet a favorite,
lay the points.
LAYOFF - Wager made by one
'book with another to balance his action
LIMIT - Maximum bet accepted
by the book before line is adjusted
LINE - The odds on a game
LOCK - A can't lose bet
MATADOR - A back-door cover |

STEAM - Heavy action on one
side.
STRAIGHT BET - A bet on just
one team.
TAKE A PRICE - Take the points.
TEASER - Similar to a parlay
that adds/subtracts from the original line
TOUT SERVICE - A business
that sells opinions on sporting events.
UNDERLAY - When the odds
on a proposition are in favor of the house.
VALUE - An overlay
VIGORISH - See Juice
